Why Many Russian‑Speaking Property Brokers Operate in Bali

Many Russian‑speaking residents have become property brokers across Bali over recent years. Large numbers of Russian citizens chose the island as a long‑term place to stay after 2022, and most of them cannot speak fluent Indonesian or English. New arrivals often turn to fellow Russian‑speaking people because they can communicate easily and explain local customs clearly.

These brokers fill a real‑world gap for foreign visitors and expats. They help their compatriots search for villas, apartments and land, arrange viewings, and talk over rental or purchase terms. Since many already built local social networks before starting this work, they see property mediation as an accessible way to earn an income on the island.

Still, local authorities and real‑estate groups give a clear warning. Not every Russian‑speaking broker holds official Indonesian real‑estate permits. Foreign renters and buyers are advised to verify all documents and licences, and work together with official agents before signing any property contract in Bali.
